Embrace is woven together by the strength of our vibrant community.
Meet Jordon Jo - musician, advisor, and friend extraordinaire.
Tell us about your journey & how you got on your path.
I was raised by a loving single mom, had to become the man of the house early on, and supported my family through tumultuous events through formative years of my life. Through these challenging times I learned emotional regulation, the sacredness of life, and how to show up with my innate angel energy to help my loved ones maintain, heal and rise. Later, I went to a performing arts middle and high school in Chula Vista, CA where I thrived in a sea of creative and intellectual mentorship and opportunity. This is where music became a central focus, studying intensively across a wide range of high-level coursework and ensembles. I continued this path as I moved to San Francisco, majoring in jazz guitar while graduating cum laude with a Bachelors of Science in astrophysics. I learned to strike a balance of music, coursework, studying abroad in Mexico, and paying my way through college with several jobs while exploring the city's colorful circles. In doing so, I ran across a group of musician-organizer-healers who called themselves the Holistic Underground. They hosted a vibrant mix of open mics and homespun gatherings of healing and resource sharing. I felt the rare feeling like I was being seen and encouraged by people that I admired and resonated with on many, spirit-affirming levels. Many important connections and collaborations in my life emerged from being a part of this group.
At some point during this time, I was working as a resident assistant in the dorms of SFSU. I loved supporting my residents, who reciprocated the love and respect. One day, during finals week, I was fired based on rumors being spread about it. I witnessed how easy it could be for my livelihood, community and reputation could be taken from me. Soon after this I decided I would take these aspects into my own hands. I began a walking tour company with my great friend Wes Leslie. This was 12 years ago, and today our business collaboration has hired over 50 employees, 75 independent contractors and has generated more than $4 million in revenue, with a bright future ahead.
My father is a natural entrepreneur and artist, running his own dance studios for most of my life. My mom is also an entrepreneur and an artist. I come from artists who've paved their own path. I have felt destined to do the same.
What is a spiritual lesson you are living into right now?
Beauty is an offering to spirit, an oasis of actualization in the cold desert of the universe.
Nature is our greatest ally, and I must work with it. I must learn its language, heed its calling and build my life in its reflection.
God has a gratitude kink, and there's no greater calling for me than to please god with my grateful and attentive focus.
My greatest work is to listen to the signs and to be of service to what it calls forth in me.
What value are you receiving as being part of the Embrace Community?
Embrace has given me friends of a lifetime. These humans mean the world to me, and never have I felt so seen and supported. Within Embrace, my gifts get to blossom into the larger community. Gifts such as playing the guitar, my first love, and providing business support to holistic entrepreneurs, my current focus.
Also gifts like making home-made organic pho for large quantities of people, and embodying my angel energy, bringing the presence of safety, ease and steadiness to spaces that inspire and see me.
Finally, as someone who sees the world often from the birds eye view, I know with Embrace, the community's whole is far greater than the sum of its parts. I can only do so much to create the world I wish to see. And with Embrace's multi-faceted, brilliant, visionary community, I'm able to soften into focusing on my sum, knowing how richly it feed the whole, and the whole feeds it.
Any gifts or offerings you’d love to share?
